Todd B. Abel, M.D.
Dr. Todd B. Abel joined our team in 2005 after serving three years as a neurosurgeon in the US Air Force. He is a board certified neurosurgeon and associated with the University of Tennessee Medical Center and East Tennessee Children's Hospital. He is also a clinical instructor at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine.
Dr. Abel earned his medical degree from Loma Linda University and completed his residency at Indiana University. His special interests are in spine surgery and tethered cord syndrome, and has completed research, presentations and published writing on these topics. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Abel's military background brings a new perspective to our practice.
Joshua A. Miller, M.D.
Dr. Joshua A. Miller is a board certified neurosurgeon who moved to Knoxville in 2006 to join Neurosurgical Associates. He specializes in spine surgery and brain and spinal tumors and is associated with University of Tennessee Medical Center, and East Tennessee Children's Hospital.
Dr. Miller completed his medical degree at Texas A&M University Health Science Center and his residency at Ohio State University Medical Center. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgery, Tennessee Neurosurgical Society, and Knoxville Academy of Medicine. Dr. Miller constantly continues his education and improves his knowledge to better treat our patients.
Michael T. Walsh, M.D.
Dr. Michael Walsh is a board certified neurosurgeon who graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his training in neurosurgery at the University of Vermont, where he received instruction in general neurosurgery and had the opportunity to learn advanced spinal surgery techniques from leaders in both neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery disciplines. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Skull Base Neurosurgery under Dr. William Couldwell, one of the world leaders in Skull Base Tumor and Vascular Neurosurgery. Following this, he was selected to tour Japan where he learned further advanced cranial techniques with the internationally renowned Dr. Takanori Fukushima.
Dr. Walsh is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery and is the Director of Neuro-Oncology at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. His research interests include medical augmented reality, 3D printing, and the use of wearable technology such as Google Glass in healthcare. He has authored multiple articles for peer-reviewed journals and has given presentations at national and international conferences. He has active collaborations with the University of Tennessee at Knoxville Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering and with Oak Ridge National Labs. He is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Tennessee Neurosurgical Society, the Tennessee Medical Association and the Knoxville Academy of Medicine.
His clinical interests include brain tumors, cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, pituitary tumors, neuro-endoscopy, and spine surgery.
