Todd B. Abel, M.D.
Dr. Todd B. Abel joined our team in 2005 after serving three years as a neurosurgeon in the US Air Force. He is a board certified neurosurgeon and associated with the University of Tennessee Medical Center and East Tennessee Children's Hospital. He is also a clinical instructor at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine.
Dr. Abel earned his medical degree from Loma Linda University and completed his residency at Indiana University. His special interests are in spine surgery and tethered cord syndrome, and has completed research, presentations and published writing on these topics. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Abel's military background brings a new perspective to our practice.
Joshua A. Miller, M.D.
Dr. Joshua Miller is a board certified neurosurgeon who joined Neurosurgical Associates in 2006 after completing his residency training at The Ohio State University Medical Center. He earned his medical degree at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. Dr. Miller is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville and is affiliated with East Tennessee Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Miller received specialized training in the treatment of both benign and malignant brain and spinal cord tumors. He also is trained in many advanced spinal surgery techniques such as artificial disc replacement and minimally invasive lumbar fusion. Other clinical interests include trigeminal neuralgia, Chiari malformations and peripheral nerve disorders. Dr. Miller is a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgery and a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeon, North American Spine Society, Tennessee Neurosurgical Society, Tennessee Medical Association and Knoxville Academy of Medicine.
Jennifer G. Savage, M.D.
Dr. Jennifer Gentry Savage is a board eligible neurological surgeon and is fellowship trained in pediatric neurosurgery. She has joined Neurosurgical Associates in September 2014. Currently, Dr. Savage is associated with East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, University of Tennessee Medical Center.
Dr. Savage earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center. She completed her residency at University of Texas Health Science Center and her fellowship at University of Indiana School of Medicine. Dr. Savage’s writing has been published in books, journals, and abstract pieces. She is also a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgery. Neurosurgical Associates is proud to have her as a member of our staff.
Christopher P. Gallati, M.D.
Dr. Christopher Gallati is a board eligible neurological surgeon who graduated from Mercer University School of Medicine. He joined Neurosurgical Associates in August of 2015.
Dr. Gallati completed his residency in neurosurgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from University of Rochester of Simon Graduate School of Business. Dr. Gallati has co-authored articles on neurotrauma and vascular neurosurgery. He has also made several presentations on topics related to vascular neurosurgery.
Dr. Gallati enjoys practicing general neurosurgery with a special interest in spine surgery.
Steven A. Sanders, MD, FACS
Dr. Steven Sanders has a philosophy for patient care: to pursue the practice of neurological surgery with honesty and integrity and to place the welfare and the rights of his patients above all else.
A Tennessee native, Dr. Sanders worked in virology research at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis before receiving a Master’s Degree in the study of neurotropic viruses from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He earned his Medial Doctorate from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis. He later served as an intern at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis, under the direction of the Indiana University Department of Neurological Surgery. This was followed with a neurosurgery research fellowship studying the biochemical changes of spinal cord injury and recovery, as well as the use of Nd-YAG and Argon Lasers in the study and management of cerebrovascular disease. Dr. Sanders has published several scientific articles on these and other topics.
Since completing his neurosurgical residency at Indiana University in 1992, Dr. Sanders has practiced with Neurosurgery and Spine Consultants of East Tennessee, PC. He is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Sanders enjoys trout fishing in the mountain streams of East Tennessee and Central Colorado, reading music, snow skiing, spending time with his talented and loving wife and daughters and flying a British Royal Air Force primary trainer to military air shows. He and his family live in West Knoxville and attend Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church.
